A trombones sound can be very dark, and thats generally the best sound for it to be orchestrally.
A lighter trombone sound is considered more for jazz.
A lot of players choose one or the other cause its hard to be both. tyler is really good at both but I think the judges were right to choose him for orchestra.

he auditioned for all-state band, all-state orchestra, and all-state jazz. apparently the judges thought his orchestra audition was the best of the three

so out of the entire state of Nevada, he got first-chair for orchestra. Which means he is the best. I’m so proud and jealous of him. I love him so much uwuuwuwu
